I am _such_ a geek

I just read this Brief, Incomplete, and Mostly Wrong History of Programming Languages.  It was very, very funny.

I am sadly lacking in enough other people in my life who would even understand it, let alone find it funny.

I think I got all of the jokes in it too.  Which means I've picked up far too much about programming languages I've never even touched...

OK, you win, I didn't get all the gags, but there were definitely a few smirks in there along the way :)

The early reference to misogynism with Ruby is probably a reference to this recent NSFW (but given at a major Ruby conference) presentation: http://www.slideshare.net/mattetti/couchdb-perform-like-a-pr0n-star

Wadler tries to appease critics by explaining that "a monad is a monoid in the category of endofunctors, what's the problem?"

Seems pretty straightforward to me :)
