Over here Vernor Vinge talks about The Singularity. His personal definition is:
Humans, using technology, will be able to create, or become, creatures of superhuman intelligence.

I tend to define intelligence as the ability to construct models based on perceptions and use them to make predictions.

Which is nicely vague enough that I can use it most of the time.

Computers can, of course, take pre-built models and use them to make predictions _very quickly_, but are still fuck-all use at constructing models from perceptions.
