Speeding Fines

[livejournal.com profile] octopoid_horror let me know about the Finnish system of administering speeding fines:
KPH over the speed limit x daily salary.

So if you're 10KPH over the speed limit and earn hundreds of thousands of pounds a year, then you're in for quite a large fine.

Apparently this is how all reasonable sized fines work in Finland - they're expressed in days of pay.

I'm in favour.

You claim it's "working too hard at incomprehension", but I still have my doubts.

Perhaps if you tried demonstrating basic literacy, and actually addressing what I *said* rather that what you wish I had said?

You can doubt if you wish, but that would be a false assumption on your part. Frankly if you have to dismiss me as stupid to continue to believe your viewpoint, I think that says more about you than me.

There is no need for the comma after basic literacy.

Not true. You could *try* to address what I actually said without being literate. That would just mean you'd do it wrong.

But if you tried and got it wrong, that would at least imply you knew what the words meant.

The fact that you claimed "Ambulances. Police. Fire Brigade" as a response shows that you either have absolutely no clue as to what I was saying, or no interest in addressing it. Both make you stupid. One is simply stupidity that could be corrected if you'd stop being deliberately stupid.

All 3 of the examples go faster than normal traffic and are not deemed to be driving dangerously. This is because all of these drivers are professionals who are trained properly by experts. Your suggestion that simply going faster than other people on the road is dangerous is ludicrous in my opinion.

As long you have have to keep calling me stupid, you are losing your battle of wits more and more. This conversation can be read by others who know me who I am sure, regardless of whether they agree with you or me, know you are incorrect. I don't have anything to prove to someone who is coming across as an internet troll, but as a friend of andy's I have given you ample chance to backtrack rather than digging a deeper hole for yourself.

Being an elitest prick only works when you are elite (and even then, you are still a prick).

Unlike normal drivers, yes, you're right. Normal drivers attempting to do what EMS do get arrested and fined.

Your suggestion that simply going faster than other people on the road is dangerous is ludicrous in my opinion.

Your opinion is noted. And also inept, uneducated, and moronic.

This conversation can be read by others who know me who I am sure,

Awww, it's "the lurkers support me in email" 2K!

Hint, son: I don't really care what other people think of your stupidity.

It's enough, for me, to know that you have absolutely no clue what you're talking about.

Well thankfully I don't view my self-worth or perception of my intelligence on the back of 1 person's faulty assumption because I argued with him on the internet once. Though the moment you had to start making ad hominem attacks, your whole argument fell apart. Sad that you decided to start resorting to being childish instead of actually having a discussion. Again, it says more about you than me.
