THe Millenium Challenge wargames were extensively reported within the defence community in the run up to the Iraq invasion, touted as proof that the US/UK militaries were embarking on a disaster, as very little recognition was given to the dangers of 4th generation warfare. Oddly enough, the politicians didn't listen.

the 47s! I had completely forgotten about those. I must have read about it in ye olde days of internet because I remember being spooked by living at number 47 Westlands, in Newcastle, so pre-1997. Wow.
