(no subject)

Here is an uncommonly difficult test of your grammar skills.

I scored 165/200, which somewhat astounds me. I would have thought it'd be a fair bit lower.

To be technically accurate, it tests /vocabulary/, not grammar. And it does so very poorly (in that they are comparing different parts of speech, and comparing words that are neither synonyms nor antonyms and asking us to determine one or the other, blah blah)

I should take the test and pull out all of the semantically ambiguous questions. (I should take the test to my Linguistics professor.)

I got 180. There were nto many where I knew neither word, but quite few where I only knew one of them!

Of course it is a vocabulary test. A lot of them were not really the same or opposite, but I agree with andy that (out of the words that I knew, of course!) it was pretty obvious if you had to try for an answer which way round it was. Of course this is subjective - mayeb if you were more precise about the meanings it might be harder.

I would have had 'secrete' in twice (with different 'match' words) as a tricky one :-)

smarter'n you

I got 164.705882359 correct.

Well, I got bored after answering 17 of them, so decided to see how I'd done. I got 14 / 17, which translates to 164.705882359 out of 200.

I should have stopped after one tbh.
