wait, you people are all wrong surely, doesn't zipping it bring the button closer to the button hole and make it easier to button? And you're also less likely to forget the zip bit and walk around with your flies down?

otoh, fastening first makes the zip easier to close. :>
re forgetting, when i started wearing a belt again, i found i'd occasionally forget to zip, because i was used to doing 2 things rather than 3.
