Truth is stranger than Pratchett

Julie was tracing back some hits on her journal and discovered some coming from Goodenough College, a name so resplendent with unlikeliness that I expect to get an email from them _any day now_ telling me that I can have a PhD for a mere thousand pounds. It does, in fact, sound like the kind of institution one would find in Ankh-Morpork.

However, further googling turns up that it was formed by the then Chairman of Barclays Bank, Frederick Goodenough.

Which just goes to show that no matter how strange writers try to make ye olden dayes, the real ones are just that bit stranger.

It's a residence in Bloomsbury, London, which offers accommodation to American students and faculty who are undertaking research in the UK. it offers no teaching, but is highly desirable for accommodation, I've known a few people who lived there.

There's also a Sexey's School somewhere in the south of England.

Apparently there is or was also a Failing School, named, naturally, after Josiah Failing. I always liked that.
