This doesn't seem to be happening that widely yet, but if it's being applied systematically then YouTube just signed its own death warrant.

Can't really see what else it could do. It's that or Notice and Takedown - in which case the videos would just vanish (which is what currently happens).

No, their hands are tied, certainly. But still, the copyrighted stuff brings in a huge portion of the user traffic.

But I suppose it doesn't matter, now they're assimilated into Google rather than being a separate business.
