Advice requested - text editor

I'm running Windows and looking for a notepad replacement.  It needs to do the simple stuff really simply, and I don't really have a massive use for complex stuff.  But it should be able to open unix text files without a problem, do find/replace, etc.  If it's scriptable that's a bonus (so I can do a series of finds/replaces in one go) but not essential.

Any suggestions?

GNU Emacs.

Oh. I didn't realise those were part of your requirements.

In that case you want XEmacs.

The motion is carried.

Andrew Ducker, I hereby sentence you to a life of using (whichever flavour you prefer) of Emacs.
