I, of course, had to evaluate the risk. "Don't click this, he says. And yet, I can't imagine he would link to something that would, say, infect my computer with a virus, and if he really didn't want us to click it, he wouldn't have linked it at all, so I suppose it's reasonably safe."

Ok, that was worth it. But silly people like me are advised to open a new browser window first, or do it in IE if you're running firefox, etc.

I did say to make sure you didn't have any other open tabs - which should have indicated that you couldn't easily get out of it...
