Bastards

Anathem is technically out as of the 1st of September. Both Waterstones and Amazon agree. Neither actually have it in stock yet though.

I've ordered it for my holiday. I really hope it turns up.

Waterstone's and Amazon may agree, but the letter from Atlantic that came with my proof copy doesn't: it says the UK date is 29th September.

Or buy the US edition, which came out yesterday.

Of course, having confidently asserted it's not out yet, last night my friend asserted that he had seen three copies of the UK edition in Borders in Birmingham. So who knows what's going on?

I received a final copy from the publisher today. The letter with this one says that it's going to be published on 1 October. So really, who knows what's going on ...

Fictionwise have it coming into stock as an ebook tomorrow. DRM'd, but it's so fricking huge that I'd want to read it as an ebook anyway. So it'll be on my PDA tomorrow ...

[livejournal.com profile] autopope makes a good point. I bought System of the World as an e-book because the concept of propping up a book that size for an extended read wasn't inspiring. (Also, e-book was available earlier than UK edition.) And I did also pay good money for the hardcover, which is slightly annoying. I want discount!

Amazon UK have just dispatched my copy to me ... or so they claim.
