The voice of the people

I think that Blogging is here to stay. It's formed communities and those communities will stabilise it and hold it together. Syndication makes it possible to create communities across different websites and to involve anyone at all.

And it's already having its first effects on the world outside. See, for instance, this article on how bloggers brought down Trent Lott.

My main problem with democracy is that people that don't care are still able to make a difference. Bill (a workmate/friend) said that the right to vote implies the duty to think and investigate. If you're making your opinion known via your blog, it at least indicates a willingness to engage others and it shows that you care about the subject. You can't bribe every blogger because it's everyone, you have to enact actual change to do that.
