Why do you need photobucket to re-host your own photos?

At the very least (if you don't have real hosting) don't we have some LJ photo hosting thing?

Yes. But with photobucket I can give it the URL of the image I want to rehost and it snags it for me. With LJ I'd have to download, upload and then find the link.
