In other news

I downloaded NVu in order to make the table. Incredibly simple and it produced nice clean code. Next time I need to make a static web page I'll be playing with it some more.

Search for Komposer, same base code as NVu but with some bug fixes (but not enough, not if you're using templates!)

I used Komposer and/or NVu to build and maintain the Eastercon pages this year ( http://contemplation.conventions.org.uk )

Well, Nvu isn't developed anymore, y'see. That the guy who developed Nvu is currently working on a new open source web development tool with Mozilla.

Even if it's just bugfixes, that could amount to pretty big differences. I was going to say, nice as NVu is from the point of simplicity and clean code, Lordy is it ever buggy! There are also various quite basic things it just doesn't do (hello I would like to edit some CSS directly now please but no) which are bloody annoying.

Mind you, I still use it when I want to edit static web pages - there's a lot to like, it's just I've been wishing it was less broken ever since I first downloaded it.

Just bugfixes.

As [livejournal.com profile] johnbobshaun said, the guy who developed NVu is working on a replacement product, so a bunch of open source types stepped forward to do bug fixes ... there was a tiny bit of controversy about this but it's good that someone did.

They don't seem to be very active though as there doesn't appear to have been a new version of Kompozer for ages ...

there are still some bugs and un/under-developed features but they don't seem to have broken anything ... :-)

Ooh, thanks! I'd missed that.

I think it's great too.
