Fear and Loathing still well acted and directed, but lacking much real point. It's an interesting artefact of its time, but without knowing about the historical context it just seems like meaningless discordance.

AllOfMp3.com seems to have lost the various methods I used to use to pay. Which sucks, to put it mildly. On the other hand, I've entirely filled my iPod, so it's not urgent this week.

I think you may have to have taken lsd to really feel for the films direction. Someone once said to me that it was a bit like an acid trip. The start is quite lighthearted, madness follows, days are lost, confusions reigns when youre actually supposed to do sometihng.... and at the end theres this sense of relief.

Nope. Not a movie I'd want to watch on drugs.

It is a good, well made movie. But if you haven't read the book then it's eay to just see it as a series of unpleasant incidents that are very well filmed/directed/acted.

The main character is someone burned out and cynical from the collapse of the 60s idealism, thrashing around in an attempt to recreate the experiences of his youth, descending into fear and self-loathing with periods of lucidity as he tries to work out how he reached this state. But recognising this is tricky because it's implicit, not explicit.
