In praise of Lupercalia

On Valentine's Day
(So they say)
We're forced to express
(in somewhat of a mess)
to the ones we love
(oh heaven's above)
the way we feel
(with a card or a meal)
and although we gripe
(and threaten to strike)
It's mostly just fear
(as should be quite clear)
of letting them down
(and looking the clown)
When it's plain to see
(And it can't just be me)
We care all the time
(And that's the end of the rhyme!)

With thanks to [livejournal.com profile] surliminal, who provided the last two lines, and the original version of the two lines above that - "When the plain truth is (more ellipsis)"

I have to say I rather enjoyed not feeling the traditional Valentine's Day pressure, and just being able to relax - but I'm very happy for those of you who had a great Valentine's Day!

Hehe, that is excellent. I hope you had a good one. I received a copy of the karma-sutra...worm. Along with a gaggle of Nigerian business men who seemed interested in using my bank account...
