Great news everyone!

Last night was the Dunfermline By-Election.

Labour down 17%, Lib-Dems up 16%, turning an 11,000 lead for Labour at the last election into 2,000 lead for the Lib-Dems.

This being Scotland, Conservatives were nowhere to be seen.

That's not true about Conservatives not being seen in Scotland.

Bloody Upper Nithsdale.

So a liar and a scumbag was replaced by a non-entity member of an utterly pointless party. Super.
Fail to see why this counts as "great news" mate.
(Age has not softened my politics , lol)

They make part of a coalition govt? Since when? I admit I may have lost touch in some areas since leaving Britain , but I was pretty sure the govt had a clear labour majority (unfortunately). Surely you can`t mean that laughable farce referred to as the "Scottish parliament" lmgdfao.
Everyone outside of Scotland knows it only exists to keep the natives happy and quiet. :D

Yes , you would be right - Cameron is certainly a better proposition than Blair (who isn`t) , but he ain`t no Thatcher. Ah well , can`t have everything I suppose - I still have to put up with the mental midget Schroeder , lol.

I voted since it's where I live now and to be honest I wasn't surprised at the switch. Dufermline has had loads of new houses built recently aimed at people who want a biggish house without paying edinburgh prices. Driving up through the new builds it looks like the area you'd expect to vote Lib Dem - families in our age group with 2.4 children. Lib Dem by far ha sthe friendliest approach to kids and schools. Besides Labour shot themselves in the foot over bridge tolls!!
