Technical help required

On the positive side, I have discovered that my birthday present of an A/V Amp also routes video signals, so I can dispose of my SCART switcher and about 13 cables.

On the negative side, when the AV amp is connected to my TV it requires a component (red/white/yellow) cable to SCART convertor.  Normally, a SCART input causes it to switch to the correct input automatically, but the component input seems to be missing that signal.

Is there anything I can do about this, or do I just have to press the AV button on my remote every time I turn the TV on?

Have you tried finding a composite that does ?
Some electronics shops actually employ electrical engineers to make custom kit after all. Either that or carefully read the diagrams yourself and make a pin through to a battery outputting the correct low voltage signal (care needed obviously, I have known people to short out equipment doing similar things and getting it wrong).

Yes, then comes the second part of my comment where you get a compostie scart block and connect up the relevant pin yourself (or find someone to amek one for you).
