Anyone recommend some good two player games, for both Windows and Gamecube?

Extra points for anything Co-Operative...

Timesplitters 2 & 3 for co-op and splattery deathmatch action.

Counterstrike (for Windows) has nifty cooperative two-player action. You can play it online or with AI bots that are actually pretty good. Of course, you can also shoot the hell out of each other, if ya want.

We really like Tales of Symphonia for Gamecube. Very coopt. Trying X-Men LEgends for Gamecube as well, and we're less impressed. I'd love to hear about other console RPG's for gamecube with coopt play.

Second Counterstrike and any of the MODS based around Half Life such as Day of Defeat (WWII).

Throw away fun with no game really being the same and yes you can play team based stuff too.

I concur with suggestions of Timseplitters. GC Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory is supposed to have a really good cooperative mode as well. On the PC... break out some gamepads and a copy of MAME and take your pick from 20 years of cooperative arcade games...

for the Cube: Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles is a good co-op game for up to 4 players. Downside is the multi-player mode requires a cable and GBA for each player. Upside is that many people already own GBA handhelds.

Well, from the top;

They've improved the Counterstrike:Sauce engine to the point that it actually works. Mechanically, it's a slightly different game from Counterstrike, but only a vet will really notice this.

I've not played Battlefield 2, but although it's graphically demanding, I expect it's a lot of fun. This is not a game of skill, but it is good fun.

Steer clear of 2player Doom3. This is not a fun game to play multiplayer, unless you've got an x-box with co-op mode.

For Multiplayer RTS, you can't get much better than C&C:Generals. I know that the C&C genre is probably seeming a little old right now, but you'll be amazed how much you enjoy this, especially if you splash out on the zero-hour add on.

Alternatively, Anything from the Total-War series can offer an enjoyable 30 minute skirmish, while Warhammer 40k - Dawn of War also holds water.

I can't help you much with RPG's (which is a pity. It's a while since I've played a good RPG, but MMORPG's don't really do it for me.)

Finally, fighting games - Soul Calibur II - check. You're good.
