Just great

The SCART switch I bought from Argos doesn't recognise when the GameCube is plugged into it - the image appears for 1/20 of a second then vanishes.  Which is just silly, as the old £5 one worked fine.

And the MediaMVP I picked up doesn't work at all.  No lights, no signal, not even a flashing on the hub where the ethernet is plugged in.

Is it too much to expect that things would work when you plug them in?

Yes!

Well it is to me, as technology hates me - its all out to get me, especially my laptop.............

Curiously enough, I also had SCART related problems with my Gamecube. I even tried one of those RGB connectors and got nowhere. It may well have been my TV or something.

When you get it working, get Resident Evil 4. A few nights ago, I had to fight through something completely ripped from "Night of the Living Dead": the zombie* siege! Desperately blocking doors and windows with furniture and running up the stairs in panic has never been so much fun!

* Except RE4 'zombies' are more like "28 Days Later" loonies crossed with Ramsey Campbells "The Inhabitant of the Lake."

If things worked straight out the box you would loose half the fun of spending 3 hours tearing out hair, screaming and trawling through support and tech pages trying to get the thing working, not that that's happened to me this week :P

well my scart switcher definitely recognises the gamecube. Up until last week I'd never attached the cube to it, but I had an unquenchable urge to bop the bongos on the big tv so hooked it up and had a drunken evening with Donkey Konga. Now I need to decide whether to buy Donkey Konga 2. Want to borrow my GC lead to see if it makes a difference? Could be your lead rather than your scart switch?

and why didn't I know you'd bought a mediaMVP??? (expects sarcastic answer about never meeting for lunch) Where's my invitation to come and play with it? I have to admit that I've been most pleased with my streamium and it's revolutionised my music listening experience in the living roonm - no more mucking around with CDs.

Lunch, Monday, 12pm, beside the lifts.

Know what you mean about equipment, although I got a lovely broadband/router to worl after some bad language - a pci ethernet card has defeated me and I must return it to the shop before I kill someone.
