Good interview here with the makers of the upcoming movie. I continue to feel encouraged...

Mr Adams occasionally referred to it as H2G2, and the BBC's HH site also refers to itself that way.

Hitch-Hikers Guide to the Galaxy is where it comes from - HHGG or H2G2.
