The person who wrote the breakthrough article is a genius simplifier. I would give a lot for that skill.

4. Good piece on covid infections.

7. I just hope they don't phase out magnetic stripes entirely so long as my unemployment insurance benefit card has no chip.

10. Twitter wouldn't let me read more than 6 posts of "The rabbi who was also a priest" without signing up.

I dislike VOIP because it stops working when the internet or the power or both fail, and that happens several times a year where I live. In a disaster situation, which is highly likely here, it's going to fail instantly, and mobile phone towers will be overloaded and nonfunctional (if they continue to work).

Edinburgh's first fully electric double decker buses arrive

Oh, ***hurray***! ^_^

Electric buses are great, running a bus on
solar power/wind power/wave power
is so much better than petrol buses,
both for local air pollution [asthma, heart disease]
and for climate change...

Are the electric double decker buses wheelchair accessible?

1. Local restauranteurs were on the news tonight complaining of the shortage of supplies. I'm wondering if we are in a covid-related problem that was predicted for last year.

I dislike the way that the Twitter thread equates "sprint" with "deathmarch", which shows just how badly Agile has been corrupted. One of the absolute tenets of XP (where Agile came from in the first place) was 9 to 5 -- the one company I've worked at that really took Agile seriously absolutely forbade overtime. And not coincidentally, it was the most solidly successful, crisis-free, reliably productive team I've ever worked with.

But the main point of that thread: yeah, I feel it so much. As an IC in my mid-50s I'm downright unusual, and it's frustrating as hell...
