I saw this article on Lifehacker yesterday about Dark Sky alternatives: https://lifehacker.com/these-weather-apps-are-great-alternatives-to-the-apple-1842591377

The Peril of USS Theodore Roosevelt

Reading that letter from the ship's captain spooked the Hell out of me. There are reports of similar perils also facing the crews of USS Boxer and USS Ronald Reagan.

We will probably see similar reports from French naval vessels in the weeks ahead.

I use the Met Office Android app, which is reasonable.

I use* Google Weather**, which doesn't need install and gets its stats from Accuweather. Exceedingly more accurate than whatever else (free apps) I've tried, no ads or funny business (that I know of).

*I also pay for a radar app but it's not so easy to tell long-range weather from it. It tracks hurricanes well, though.
**To install it I just google [weather] from my phone then click the button in the top result that says Add, which puts an app icon on the home screen - clicking it then opens the app.

You're welcome, I guess (can't decide if that's a greeting or thank you but either way...hope you're doing well.)

I am very impressed by all these people who pay such attention to the weather. I check about every other day, then promptly forget and wear what I would have worn anyway.
