Can't sleep, babies will cough on me

There's a baby asleep behind me. A baby with a cold.
Every ten minutes or so she has a coughing fit and wakes herself up enough to make a pitiful whining noise.
About every fifth time she does this she wakes up enough that she needs help to go back to sleep.
Half of those I can help with - a hand on her chest is comforting enough for her to go back over.
Half of them she fights me and gets loud enough to wake Jane. Who can then put her back to sleep in about ten seconds through the power of milk (so far, we've had nights where she is clearly soothing her throat by feeding near constantly. Those are no fun at all for Jane.)
And I can't relax enough to fall asleep, because I'm constantly waiting for the next coughing fit.
And in 7 hours my alarm goes off and we're heading off to Devon to see my family.
I'm hoping she doesn't have ear problems because of the cold.
And I'm really hoping that we'll have had at least a few hours of uninterrupted sleep in there somewhere.

Update at four thirty: once I did fall asleep it was Jane being woken up every time, for longer. We are going to be tired today.

My niece's baby has had a cold this last week too. Poor babies. Hopefully they'll get over it soon.

If it helps, I am loving the thought that there's a baby who is really unhappy with a cold, but she is being lovingly and attentively cared for by two parents who love her and comfort her.

Hope she's better soon, hope the trip to Devon is uneventful, and that you can all get some proper rest soon.
