My parents have been really worried I'd suffer in retirement because I've taken time out to be a Dad and my part time public sector pension won't be enough.
They didn't believe me when I said it wouldn't matter, but then very few people believed Steve would pull it off.
Parents who take time out, or indeed anyone that takes time out, will now not suffer, because contribution based benefits are pretty much going now. It was a good idea back in 1943, but it never really worked properly.
