To be fair, I haven't seen episode 3 at all and only bits of episode 2 by being in the room when someone else was watching it. I don't like what I did see much.
Although the fact that I don't have Blu Ray makes the decision for me, really. If I did? Hmm. Nah. Might download some of the deleted scenes though, when they appear online. But not from Episodes 1-3 ;)

I loved the original Star Wars trilogy. I don't know what changes George Lucas has added in the Blue Ray version (feel free to enlighten me), but I don't trust his judgement: I think his motivations now are different to what they used to be, and evidence from past suggests that I am not his target audience any more.
The only thing I'd be interested in is higher definition video and audio, and quality control tidying up any obvious errors (errors, not creative differences). I really dislike watching CGI characters and CGI space ships, and I think they are inferior to puppets and models: this was sufficient to reduce my enjoyment of the prequel trilogy, especially 2 and 3 when Yoda was CGI. I can't think of any changes he could make to the story/graphics of the originals that would interest me; it's always possible (but like I said, I doubt it).
That said, I don't own a Blue Ray drive, so I won't be buying it -- at least for the foreseeable future.
I had asssumed that after the Han Shot First anger that he would have learned and left well enough alone. At least on DVD I had the option of the original versions.

You're right, it's not that good a film. But when I first saw it (at the age of 8) it was the most incredible thing I'd ever seen. The space battles were just amazing to watch (and listen to) and on top of that, it had light-sabres which were just the coolest thing ever.

For about ten years, the only copy of Star Wars I had was recorded from TV in the 80s and had awesomely dated adverts that I remember by heart because I watched it so much. Really bad 80s ready meals, weird adverts for beer, the Spectrum +2 and that sort of thing.
