Actually, I thought the GMC had given guidance that everyone can drink as long as they do it in moderation. Sadly, the general drinking populace are generally incapable of understanding 'in moderation' and come up with things like 'alcopops don't count' etc. So it's easier for government to say 'don't drink at all'.
