Things that have amused me lately

Click here and scroll down to hear samples from such classics as "Angry Birds: Main Theme" and "Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare: Main Menu Theme".

The trailer for the Dr Who Christmas Special: The Doctor, The Widow and The Wardrobe:
Aardman have made a movie of Pirates! In and adventure with Scientists!:
If you like very, very funny things then you could do a lot worse than buying the book, which made me laugh a lot.
And finally, the complete five parts of Dr Whoa. Hit "End" when it opens, and read it up the way. Made me a giggle a lot at the time, and I wish he'd do more.

Nile Rodgers' "Sumthing Digital" has a sale on video game soundtracks right now; normally $9.99USD per album (or $0.99/song, IIRC), but if you use the coupon code "CCSD" you'll get the 30% discount offered to attendees of San Diego Comic Con. I picked up the redone Halo Anniversary double-album for $7 that way.
-- Steve'll have to wait until he gets home to see the trailers linked. It'll seem like a long wait.

And the thought of the orchestra covering Angry Birds.

-- Steve wonders if he'd be the die-hard Halo fan he is if Marty O'Donnell and Mike Salvatori hadn't done that amazing soundtrack.
PS: Listening to 10-year-old music scored for a synthesizer and string quartet remastered by Skywalker Sound's orchestra in Dolby 5.1 is awe-inspiring.

As far as the book goes: I've on occasion had one of the Pirates series in my hands in the bookstore but put eventually put them back on the shelve because I just couldn't figure out whether or not I would like them. Is there any form of continuity to take into account or is it just stand alone books and can I pick a random one to find out?
