It's a stupid point, but while I admit "kettling" aptly describes the act of concentrating potential violence all into one place, I don't see why we need a new word, other than "unlawful inprisonment" to describe detaining peaceful, innocent people without any suspicion or any due process, merely because there are a lot of them in one place.
(I also admit it would be a sane response to people who ARE seriously violent, and effective it deterring anyone at all from invoking their rights to free speech and assembly.)
WRT to the scratchcard guy, I agree it's depressing, but isn't "taking a small medium or large amount of effort to discover whether or not the ticket was pre-chosen to win" what physical scratchcards are. You could have ones where what you do effects the outcome but I don't think it's common (?) It's mildly amusing it's more visible on the web, and I agree it's depressing, but it hardly seems surprising...
# Jesus vs Dr Who - part 2 (tags: doctorwho religion webcomic comic funny) # Jesus vs Dr Who - part 1 (tags: doctorwho religion comic funny drwho) Totally AWESOME!! Though if the two met they would certainly enjoy each others company I would think. :)

Documents in Julian Assange Rape Investigation Leak Onto Web - more details. Unpleasant stuff. (tags: rape JulianAssange law) I hadn't read these, but ya' know, I thought Julian was not a very nice person when he said he hated bullies. I looked at him and thought he was a bully. Hmmm....
The statistics about British manufacturing companies having more cash assets than liabilities at the moment is interesting. I foresee much takeover activity...
