Oh, no. I think the only times I've deleted comments was when someone put a spoiler in one (and that kicked off an argument about whether it was actually a spoiler that was no fun at all).

I generally figure the way to deal with people saying things I disagree with is to say something myself, not to delete what they said. Especially when they're someone I feel I can talk to about things in a reasonable manner, like yourself.

If you want to delete it then go ahead - let me know and I'll kill this whole thread. But if you're happy with it there then that's fine :->

I'm fine with it - it's intended as a rant.

FWIW, I still think that the comment in the post is slagging off an entire genre which many people enjoy, by effectively saying "if you're writing fantasy with elves and dwarves, you're de facto writing bad work."

I do think it overreaches. But then I think that it's also going to annoy a lot of Rand fans, Hemingway fans, people who liked Catcher In The Rye, etc. It's a humourous take on the subject, not a well-supported argument. If it had been written straight, with that little information, and no humour, I'd never have linked to it. As it was, it amused me.
