The piracy article has interesting knock-on implications. Notably that if your product is ONLY available for free, you may find you have to do quite a lot of education to tell your audience how to download it and where, because 90% of your audience probably don't regularly download things outside mainstream retail channels.

(Also that if you give something away, and then also offer it for pay, your audience may actually increase, because much of your audience is actually turned off by free stuff, which they are more unfamiliar with than paid content.)

There's more info here including the names of more companies involved, AllPosters, Easyjet and Vistaprint if the comments are to be believed. There's 41 pages of comments dating from 2008 to the day before yesterday.
