The media like to portray things as suddenly happening in an explosive way. Makes their life easier. The number of times I've seen interviews with new movie stars where the journalist says "So, you appeared out of nowhere" and the star replies "No, I've been in 16 movies, in lots of small roles." Or the fact that the media seem to have suddenly discovered that there's a Liberal Democrat party :->
