While chatting to Mike (currently writing AI for a PS2 game I can't talk about), I came out with:

If I could take all of your personality facets and point to the point on your genes where they came from, or pinpoint the moment in time where they stem from, would you feel more or less like a person?

Which I think requires a bit of thinking about, and has potential as a character/story hook

Completion is unnecessary

It's an idea. Ideas are cool. Putting them into a character, story, song, book, whatever can make ideas palatable for when you're trying to indoctrinate others with them, but it's the basic idea that's generally the most interesting to me.

And it's an interesting standalone question. I've (in other forms) asked it of myself on numerous occasions. Does the fact that I know that I am made up of the sum of my parts, and that each of my impulses has an origin that could be pointed out, diminish me?
