Sodomy non sapiens

A friend of mine has a daughter at school and is wondering whether they should take Latin - whether they would find it actually useful later on for other subjects.  They think that it would be useful for science, and also for wanting to be a doctor or a vet.

Anyone got any opinions on this?

Hmm. I didn't do Latin and didn't feel at all hindered when studying Biology. But I've also always been fairly interested in etymology anyway, so I link words in my head and deduce meaning that way. I guess I do it backwards - identify common components of English words, then deduce the origin that ties them.
