Brilliant, especially as Diageo - the international megacorp who own most of Scotland's distilleries - are shutting down the Kilmarnock plant, breaking Johnny Walker's 150-odd year link with the town, at a cost of 900 jobs vital to the local area.
Which is pretty typical of Diageo, who are famed in the Whisky trade for not giving a flying f*ck about history or culture of individual whisky distilleries or names, not when there is profit to be made. Many fantastic whisky distillers have been lost forever because they didn't make enough profit for Diageo. Oops, capitalism.
Plus I am sure I have walked down that track some time...!
It is very impressive how he manages to get to each item at the right point in the narrative - I wonder if there is a whole team of people running along in front, setting up tables to make sure they get it right!
