The decryption story is interesting. I partitioned an external drive recently, and encrypted one of the partitions with TrueCrypt. I recently tried mounting it recently and realised I'd completely forgotten the (new, appropriately complex) password.

I can scrub the partition and start again, and that's fine. But what if I was asked for my password and genuinely couldn't remember?
