Harsh Language

I am significantly amused  by the names of three support communities - [livejournal.com profile] suckitupdyke, [livejournal.com profile] whateverfaggot and [livejournal.com profile] tranny_please - for lesbian/gay/trans people to give "realistic, helpful, and no bullshit advice" to each other.

I'm not sure why the names work for me so well.  Possibly it's the sense of humour and reclaiming of language, but they tickle me.

A six-second glance or thereabouts at suckitupdyke indicates that the tone of the comm does seem to be roughly what it claims to be. However... why is "x commenters set you straight" a clever pun? I do not wish to be set straight! I wish to be reasonable and gay at the same time!

"faggot" still reminds me of the meatball things i used to love when i was little. sadly i tried them again a few years ago and they were gross, although i may have made the mistake of reading the ingredients beforehand.
