Following a conversation in the pub...

1/10,000 chance of HIV transmission if you give a man with AIDS oral sex.
1/20,000 if (as a man) you receive oral sex from a person with AIDS.
Can't find any figures on oral sex and women with AIDS.

So giving fellatio is twice as risky as receiving fellatio?

I wonder what the HIV transmittion odds are on cunnilingus...

And then it was only a short step to dildos...

Remember we're also talking about herpes, NSU, and a host of others. Not just HIV.

So what you're saying is that, in this case, it is better to receive than to give.

That's not very Christmas-sy, is it?

That's without using condoms? Where did these figures come from?

A study of more than 1 million female blood donors found no HIV-infected women whose only risk factor was sex with women. Despite the absence of confirmed cases of female-to-female transmission of HIV, the findings do not negate the possibility. Information on whether a woman had sex with women is missing in more than 60% of the 246,461 case reports―possibly because the physician did not ask or the woman did not volunteer the information.

Transmission rates from HIV+ (and other blood born STIs carried by) females from oral sex are nearly impossible to rate due to monthly cycles.

I did work on a report that disproved the myth perpetuated by the powdered breast milk companies that natural breast milk from HIV+ mothers infected their children. It turns out like most infections the mother carries, anti-bodies are generated in the breast milk.
