I wonder how far it is many USA-ians looking at a map like this might vote for McCain because if they understand the US's enemies as being pro-Obama, thinking back to Reagan-era "bear in the woods" scaremongering.

You're assuming USA-ians (the ones IN the USA, I mean) actually care in the slightest what the rest of the world thinks.

Good point, and I would assume that most of those that do will vote for Obama. I was thinking of it in terms of a "no-one likes us but we don't care" Millwall FC (?) type fuck you attitude.

Or, to put it another way more related to my original point, a map like this could be spun to imply foreign policy weakness on Obama's part, that he is the guy who our enemies want to see in power because it suits their anti-American aims.

Apparently Israel is quite pro-McCain.

Maybe, but I can't see Israel being too impressed with Palin, given her history of working for Pat Buchanan and her solicitation of the "Jews for Jesus".

My father reliably told me tonight that all the Jews are voting for McCain and who could blame them when Obama's middle name is Hussain.

Very very luckily I was leaving 5 minutes later..

How far is there any alternative when both parties / candidates have to be pro Israel?
