Phone transfer

I moved from Stirling to Edinburgh five and a half years ago. The phone bills for the old flat are still in my name, as at the time it would have meant about a week of no internet for the people in the flat.

I'd rather it wasn't in my name, but I'm not willing to have them cut off for a week to get it sorted. Anyone had any experience in transferring a phone connection/ADSL from one name to another in recent years?

I would have thought it's in the interest of the business to make it seemless. Interrupting the service gives customers cause amd opportunity to change provider.
Failing that though, if it's only a week of disconnection, it's not exactly the end of the world. The people living there really should be taking responsibility for their own bills.

What's the email actually about? (service levels, bandwith?)

Personally I wouldn't be comfortable at all with my name being on anything that's out of my control. A week without a connection isn't that big a deal.
