I emailed this to a few people, and when it turned up on their journal it seemed popular, so the rest of you now get it too:
Two people raise a lion cub and then returned it to the wild. A year later they go to see it - and you can see the moment it recognises them.

More interesting to me is that it's mate approaches them and seems to accept they are no threat or prey either. (refuses to make *eeee* noises... maybe)

Completely awesome, but anyone in their right mind would have repeatedly peed in their pants pretty much up until it had successfully not eaten their head for at least a minute.

Raised by hand or no, a full sized lion running full tilt at you is not one of the most comforting experiences I'm sure.

topless old guy who makes a mysterious brief appearance is george adamson, joy "born free" adamsons husband. It was those two who persuaded these guys to release their harrods bought pet lion into the wild. Or so I gather from going through the 328 youtube comments.

I've had pets all my life. I've never believed that only humans have emotions.

I do believe that there are certain kinds of thinking we're better at, but I understand that there's less disagreement over that :->

I'm fascinated by the other lion, too. It's very sweet to see that an animal can be successfully released into captivity without it losing its connection to the humans that raised it. We disrupt so much by poking our noses in, s'good to see that it doesn't have to be that way.
