This is me!!!!!

Although, to be fair, I did whine until I got an extra Gig of RAM so that I'd spent less time waiting for compiles.

And client-side compiles are still so much better than waiting for the mainframe to compile my COBOL code...

A them were the days...that's where I learned to task-switch and have 3 projects on the go at once.

Still used to get to the point at about half 2 in the afternoon where I might as well go home cos by the time the compile jobs got to the head of the queue and then compiled then it would be hometime. Espaciall if it had to quue a tape request that meant the (evil killer) robot had to go and get it.. Then you had to hope it wouldn't then ram it *just* to the side of the slot. Or be busy killing/maiming techs.

Without flexitime that job would have been a nightmare of boredom...

but that was long, long ago (1993) in a land far, far away (Crewe).

Sadly this excuse doesn't apply very well when using interpreted / interpiled languages :-(

My favorite week was:

2 Hours Programming
1 Hour Compiling

and...

89 Hours Processing at 12 hours a day...

See my paycheck grow while I watch TV
