Will I never learn?

So, despite having found the second Pirates of the Caribbean movie average at best (a few nice moments, but a _lot_ of drag), I watched the trailer for the third one. And giggled my way through the whole thing in an excited teenage manner.

If you're the kind of person who gets easily suckered I strongly suggest avoiding this page or this direct link to the quicktime file.

As an aside, I can heartily recommend the UnPlug extension for Firefox, which gives you a handy link to any movie files embedded in a page, so you can download them more easily. As my current penchant is to download trailers and then watch them on the TV I find it invaluable (or at least much easier than searching through the page source for the original file).

Did you ever play the Monkey Island games?

Unfortunately, I am constantly disapointed with the pirates films. I have played all 4 Monkey Island games. Every joke that everyone else falls over laughing to, I have already heard/seen. I know that theres only so much you can do with pirates and the caribbean... voodoo lady, other evil pirate, fighting for your love. At least, they havnt turned our "beloved" heorine into gold, or thrown a mardi gras house party.

I just get irked watching the films, I feel they are a complete rip off. That and I dont really like orlando bloom or the girl, who's name has slipped out of my head. I do like the concept and that is why I watch the films... albeit wishing I could correct every audiences opinion that the jokes are unique and origional.
